Remembering Steve...

Thank You.

Apple CEO, Steve Jobs (1955-2011) has always been an inspiration to us all at Initiative Science.  There will be no one quite like Steve, but what a great honor it would be to motivate the next great innovator.  Here are a few words written by our CEO which were recently sent to rememberingsteve@apple.com, on behalf of the organization.

Dear Apple,

As a scientist and educational leader, Steve inspired me to follow my dreams.  For years, Initiative Science purchased PC's which would crash and fall apart, until one day my father recommended a white, 13" Macbook laptop.  Shortly thereafter, we went from servicing 50 underserved students to over 21,000 annually, exciting them to become future scientists, engineers and mathematicians (aka Young Steve's).  Every quarter I release new educational programs/products and do my best to share our game-changers in the educational community with others---emulating Steve, as if I were releasing the next iPod.

iWeb allowed me to create an amazing website, while MobileMe allowed me to host it for pennies a day.  This helped me spend less money on IT and more on the children we are trying to reach.  Keynote helped me convey my thoughts to the masses, while Pages allowed me to record/share them and Steve made me realize something really important--that I'm not crazy.

Today, our organization is 100% Apple & 100% empowered, due in part to the extraordinary vision of such charismatic figure.   Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family who knew Steve best.  To Mr Jobs, "Thank you my friend, for thinking different."

Sincerely,

Andrew B. Raupp
